Tigers 3 - White Sox 2 6/14 What a ball game ! These 2 teams always play each other real tough and games are rarely decided by more than a run or two. Today was no acception with a pitchers duel between Trevon Godfrey (13 K's) & Marquis Harper (10 K's). The Tigers scored their runs by A Richard Mitchell single followed by a Nick Mazzola RBI double Nick later scored. The Tiger third run was scored on a Trevon Godfrey delayed steal off home. The White 2 runs were scored by alert base running of Marquis Harper and Ryan Schmidt who both scored. Some outstanding defense by the likes of Nick Mazzola, Richard Mitchell, Trevon preserved this crucial opener of the AL Playoffs for the Tigers. Way to Go Team !!!

Yankees 7 - White Sox 1 6/17 A battle between the defending City Champs and the current AL regular season champs was the billing and it lived up to the hype. The White Sox pitcher, Chris Sedrowski, effectively stymied the running Yanks only allowing 1 run, 4 hits and 2 free passes through 4. While the stout pitching of Ronnie Williams (5 1/3 total, 0 earned, 0 hits) kept the reigning champs at bay until the top of the 5th when it was knotted at 1 on an unearned run. In the bottom of the 5th Gabriel Plaza and "Big" Jake hearing worked the count for free passes. Jonathon Bevier layed down a perfect bunt to jam up the bases with Alex Deleeuw cashing one run in on a fielder choice. Then the Pinstripes were rolling adding 6 more in the inning that featured a 2 rbi single for Naylan Johnson to take the lead to 7-1. Alex relieved in the sixth with one out allowing the Sox only hit of the contest by Ryan Schmidt then closed the doors on the next 2 batters. WE TIP OUR HATS TO THE STAFF AND PLAYERS, GOOD SEASON WHITE SOX! and we will see you next year.

Yankees 4 - Tigers 1
This was a 0 - 0 game until the 4th inning, due to a umpire judgement call on a Tiger base runner who clearly did touch third and the Yankee appeal was awarded. The Yankees scored 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ron Williams walked and Izzy Kirck beat out an infield single. With some keen base running both runs crossed the plate. The Tigers answered with a run in the 5th as Dillon Webb crossed the plate. The Yankees answered back with 2 more in the fifth, with some great base running, to put the icing on the cake. Trevon Godfrey's 10 strikeout performance for the Tigers was just not good enough for today's game. Jesse Brian & Jon Bevier were excellent on the mound today for the Yanks, holding the Tigers bat quite. Hats off to the Yankees, we will see you in game 2 on Tuesday.

Yankees 4 - Tigers 1
Again a great game between these 2 teams. The Yankees the experienced veteran team, the Tigers an up & coming young team , played an outstanding ball game. The Tigers just could not get the big hit when needed, they had plenty of opportunities just could not capitalize. On the other hand the Yankees did and that was the difference. The Tigers would like to extend a hardy congrats to the Yankees and wish them well in the city championship. Great job to the American League Champions New York Yankees. What can I say this was another hard fought battle between the up and coming Tigers and the veteran Yankees just as the other 5 games have been. Ronnie Williams and Jonathon Bevier combined to strike out 13 and the defense allowed 1 run through six innings. Offensively Thomas Mascarin came through in the 3rd with a big 2 rbi single to put the pinstipes up 2-0 and was caught at second trying to advance with the runner from third scoring on the throw to second taking the score to 3-0. The pinstripes added on more in 5th on a perfect delay steal of home by Ronnie to up 4-0. The Tigers added 1 in the bottom of the 5th to make it 4-1 on Trevon Godfrey base running. In the sixth Jonathon struck out the first batter, the second batter had a base hit but he induced two 6-3 ground outs to finish the competition. Great Job Pinstripes! We tip our hats to Tigers for all the hard work that they did all year, keep doing what you are doing and you will go far! As for us the Yankees will be playing for City Championship vs. Pirates, good luck to both teams and keep playing hard!
