Cardinals 9 - Giants 5 5/19
The Cardinals, for the second time in a
week, were forced to play shorthanded. This time the outcome was
different.
Connor"Beaver" Perreault made his first start of the season well worth the wait. Pitching with all the poise of a more experienced starter, Connor lost his bid for a no-hitter on the first batter, giving up a single to the lead-off man. Eric Cichocki made quick work of him, throwing the runner out at second on a steal attempt and setting up the first of back to back 1-2-3 innings.Great defense again! "Beaver" scattered five hit's over 4-2/3 innings before making way for J.J. Jackson who shut-down the Giants the rest of the way.
At the plate the 'Birds were off to
another fast start, scoring all their runs in the first three
innings then cruising to the end.
Larry Upshur walked three times, scored three runs and added a 2-run double in the third. J.J. had a pair of singles, scored twice and was hit by the pitch 2-times."Beaver" had a RBI double and Shane Mlynarek also had a single.Joshua"Peppy"Piepszowski made another start at second and walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored one run. Next up the Cubs. Go get 'em Cards!!!!!

Yankees 10 - White Sox 0 5/20 The Pinstripes took the field looking to get past the last game and take on the first place White Sox. Ronnie Williams took the hill striking out 11 batters and allowing 1 hit in 5 1/3 innings(85 pitches) with Jonathon Bevier closing out the game. The game was 4-0 until the 5th inning when the Yankees added another 6 runs. Featured hitters include Jonathon Bevier 3/4, Jesse Brian 2/4 with 2b/3b, Ronnie Williams 3/5 with 3b, with Thomas Mascarin (good game behind the dish), Marty Brown, Big Jake Hearing and Naylan Johnson also contributing at the dish. Also I would like to mention the amazing catch at 3b by Clifton Pope in the top of the 6th! Keep up the hard work Sox and Pinstripes!

Yankees 14 - Pirates 4 5/21 Naylan Johnson led the charge in taking the hill for the Pinstripes with Jonathon Bevier needing just 21 pitches in the 4th/5th to finish up. With the game tied at 4 Jonathon took over and the offense added 10 more runs to give him a good cushion to work with that featured the game ending extra base hit by Izzy! The defense shined all the way around, as this has become the standard for this team. Hitters that shined were Izzy 1/1 with 3b, Jonathon 2/3, Ronnie Williams 2/2 with 3b, Gabriel Plaza 1/2 with 2b and also contributing were Jesse Brian, Jakob Hook, Alex DeLeeuw and Naylan Johnson 1/3. Keep up the hard work Bucs and Pinstripes!
The learning curve continues for the
Pirates, but optimism abounds for the Buccaneers!
Bobby Root continues his torrid hitting
pace and Donovan Travis continues to shine like a beacon of hope no
matter what position
he is thrown into. Tom Meyering is sound as a pound and steady Brian Jaminet exudes confidence and a keen baseball sense. Cameron Keuning again was haunted by the spirits and ghosts of a young team learning the fine art of the old American pastime as his bodacious pitching performance was wallowed away into the form of a loss.
The bounty awaits the Pirates in the
playoffs as their ship is outfitted to do battle in the high seas
called the National League

Tigers 9 - White Sox 8 5/22 Why should this night be any different than any other Tiger/White Sox game. Simply described as exciting, hard fought definitely fan appealing as the crowd around LL#1 was huge tonight ! The Sox starting the scoring in the top of the first scoring a Daniel Robinson Run. The Tigers answered in their half of the first with 2 runs of their own starting with a Garrett Gersch singled followed by a run scoring double of the bat of Trevon Godfrey who stole third and scored on the over throw. The Sox added a Eli Milton run in the third and that is how is stayed until the sixth. The Tigers were not to be denied tonight though. Joe Ciaravino started the inning with a single and ended it with a 2 run game winning single. In between came a three run blast to the picnic tables by Devin Palmer. Then Dillon Webb with a 9 pitch at bat, Noah Varicalli ( who also singled tonight ) each walked then Nick Mazzola singled and BIG JOE FINISHED IT with another single. Cardinals 20 - Cubs 6 5/23
Larry Upshur is probably wondering if it
really happened. "Did I really drive in 13 runs on four homers?" Yes
Larry you did.
Batting in the 2 slot, Larry had a two run shot in the first, a Grand Slam in the second, a three run blast in the third, he reached on an error in the fourth, and closed out the game with his second Slam in the bottom of the fifth. All four were blasts, nothing cheap about any of them, with the ball not even back to the infield as Larry touched the plate. Man that ball really goes on Sr.2. The benefactor of all this out-put was first time pitcher, Shane Mlynarek. After a giving up a pair of runs in the first he settled down, surrendering two more in the third, while striking out four in his three innings of work. He was relieved by Robert Zurawski in the fourth and r Rob finished the game for the 'Birds, giving up two runs in the fourth then closing it out. Other Cards with hot bats were J.J. Jackson (2-4),Rob (2-4) Tyler Ciechanowski 1b and Joshua "Peppy" Piepszowski with a smash double. The Cardinals brought up Jordan Jackson from the Bats to secure a complete line-up and he walked five times from the lead-off spot. Good eye Jordan and thanks for the help!
