Week 4

Thunder 10 - Beavers 7

5/12

On a beautiful night at LL#2 the Thunder met up with the Beavers.

And boy did the Thunder sticks show up as they pounded out 23 hits to triumph over the Beavers 10-7.

But what looked like a possible blow out with the Thunder up 8-0 after two innings the Beavers gave the Thunder all

they could handle by storming back in the bottom of fifth inning and scoring 5 runs and leaving the bases loaded.

Every Thunder player had an RBI and at least 1 hit with Eli Stamatakis leading the team with 5 hits followed by Cameron Pope

and John Hogerbe who each went 4-5.  Also having good nights at the plate were Zach Hogerbe and Luke Naidow

who went a combined 5-8 with 3RBI and 2 runs scored.

These two are both 6 year olds who are contributing like a couple of veteran players.  Next Step KID PITCH.

Great play on both sides !!!!

Rainiers 10 - Bees 6

5/13

It was a beautiful spring evening in Harper Woods as the streaking Bees took on the undefeated Rainiers at Beacon # 2.

The Bees started off with some great defense holding the slugging Rainiers to 2 hits & a nice play at 1st by Anthony Monteleone

fielding a ground ball & stepping on 1st. Our Bees good hitting continued as Cole Greene & Jacob Foulkrod singled.

Miles Greene belted his 3rd double in 2 games which scored his brother Cole Greene.  Devone Williams, Mickale McKithen,

& Jonathan Stalcup all singled to help the Bees build a 3 run lead.  The hard hitting Rainiers put 4 runs on the board in

the 2nd & the battle was on.  Philip Walker singled to lead off the 2nd followed by solid singles by Nathan Gunter,

Anthony Monteleone, & Cole Greene which drove in Philip Walker.  Jacob Foulkrod came to the plate & smashed a

double to center field scoring Anthony Monteleone and the Bees regained the lead 5 - 4.

The Rainiers brought 4 more runs home in the 3rd inning to take the lead back 8 - 5.

The Bees scored 1 more run in the 3rd on singles by Miles Greene, Devone Williams, Jonathan Stalcup

& the hot hitting Jahmeir Shorter.   Our Bees played hard the last 2 innings & only allowed 2 more runs

by the hard hitting Rainiers.   Bees honorable mention for good defensive play:  Cole Greene:

good stops at RC & quick throws to hold the runners & smart play at Catcher to nearly pick off a runner at 1B.

Anthony Monteleone:  nice fielding plays at 1B.   Jacob Foulkrod: good fielding at the Pitcher position throwing out 2 runners

& catching an infield fly ball.  Mickale McKithen:  solid play at 1B & Pitcher positions.

Miles Greene earned the Game Ball for going 2 for 3, 1 double, & 2 scored runs.

The Rainiers are a great hitting & fielding team, but I believe the Bees proved they can play with them.

We'll get em' next time.  GO BEES GO!!!.

Bees 6 - Canadians 6

5/14

The Canadians and Bees got together on a blustery Sunday afternoon on the finely groomed Bob Comfort field

and battled to a 6-6, kid-pitched tie.  Both teams played great defense, and pitched well.

In the second inning the Canadians put up five runs with hits from Michaela Kirck (of course!), Owen Rossman, Jared Rees,

Olivia Randazzo, Dean DeWaele, Jordan Buck and Sam Campion.

The Bees struck back with two of their own with hits from Jacob Foulkrod, Miles Greene, Devone Wililams, Mikale McKithen

and Nathan Gunter.  Jacob Foulkrod took the mound for the Bees in the third, and struck out three, giving up a hit and a walk.

Chris Walters then took the mound for the Canadians, striking out two and getting Jacob to pop out to short stop, on a tricky,

wind-blow play with a nice catch by Jared Rees.  Michaela Kirck pitched the fourth inning for the Canadians and in her first ever

kid-pitch game struck out two, walked three and gave up two runs.  Great gutty effort by Michaela!

The Canadians were struck out 1-2-3 in the fourth.  They then put an insurance run up in the fifth with hits from Michaela,

Jared, Chris and Tarran.  That run would be key, as the Bees came back in the bottom of the sixth.

Cole Greene led off with a single, and Jacob then hit a sharp line drive to right field for a double.

Nathan singled to score the fifth run, and Cole singled to bring Jacob home and tie the game.

The Canadians' defense then came up big to shut down the rally and ensure the 6-6 tie.

Great gutty game by both teams on the blustery, gloomy day!

In our first kid pitch game of the year the Bees took on the Canadians on Sunday May 18th at LL#2 in a rain out make up game.

It was a cool & windy day for baseball but the Bees came to play looking to get even with the Canadians after an opening day loss.

The mighty Canadians started strong in the 2nd bringing home 5 runs.  The Bees bats started to warm up in the 2nd with singles

by Jacob Foulkrod, Miles Greene, Devone Williams, Mickale McKithen, & Nathan Gunter which brought home 2 runs.

Jacob Foulkrod started off the kid pitch season with a strong showing striking out 3 batters, no runs, walking 1, & giving up 1 hit.

Mickale McKithen pitched his 1st ever PC game with 3 punch outs, no walks, & no runs.  Great job Mickale!

In the 3rd inning Jacob Foulkrod hit a towering wind swept fly ball off of pitcher Michaela Kirck in which Jared Rees made a nice play camping under it for the out.   The Bees faired well in the 4th against the kid pitching with a walk by Devone Willams, & a solid single

by Mickale McKithen.  Nathan Gunter followed with a walk, a solid single by Anthony Monteleone, another walk by Cole Greene

& a single from Jacob Foulkrod which helped bring 2 more runs in & pulled within one run of the streaking Canadiens 5 - 4.

The Canadiens were not finished scoring when they put one more run on the board in the 5th & extending their lead 6 - 4.

Our Heroes were not finished either as the stinging Bees came to bat in the bottom of the 6th.

Cole Greene led the charge with a solid single which brought Jacob Foulkrod to the plate smashing a double to left field

which pushed Cole to 3rd.  Savannah Sams picked a great time for her hit of the game which was a well placed RBI infield single.

Devone Williams chipped in with his own single & brought Mickale McKithen to the plate.

Mickale singled in the tying run & set the stage for Anthony Monteleone.  Anthony hit a sharp drive towards first base

in which he tried to dodge the defender & stepped outside the baseline & was called out on a close play.

The game ended in a tie & congrats to both teams for playing hard & never giving up!

The game ball went to Nathan Gunter for 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 RBI & 1 scored run.

Great Job Nathan!  Next Bees Game is Tuesday May 20th 6:30pm at Tyrone.  GO BEES GO!!!

Grizzlies 11 - Rainiers 5

5/15

The Grizzlies were shorthanded and playing the unbeaten Rainiers on Thursday.

But their desire to avenge their opening day loss was not to be denied as they emerged with a 11-5 victory.

The Grizzlies batted around in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. The game stayed that way until the top of the 4th when the

Rainiers scored 5 runs. the lead was short lived as the Grizzlies answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and added 4

more in the last inning. The Grizzlies 25 hit attack was spearheaded by Zeke Pizzo's first hit. Anthony Stone had 4 hits.

Adonis Wilson (1 double), Lynlee Duquet and Stephen Sperry all had 3 hits.

Lance Mercer, Stephen Little & Rachel Malinowski pace the Rainiers with 2 hits each.

Beavers 11 - Sounds 7

5/15

The Beavers played another unbelievable come back game. With Myles McConnell hitting another double,

Will Zurawski going 2 for 3 started the Beavers offense. Awesome catching from Kayla Kettler and fantastic stop in the outfield

turning a double into a single. Miguel Nina playing catcher had a fantastic play at home with the bases loaded getting the runner out

and stopping a run coming in. GOOD JOB BEAVERS!!

Kid pitch started off with a bang between the Grizzlies and the Canadians.

Both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning.  For the Canadians, Chris Walters pitched a scoreless third,

striking out three and walking one.  Jared Rees pitched well also, striking out one and giving up two hits,

but holding the Grizzlies scoreless as well.  Both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning, when the visiting Grizzlies
