Grizzlies 3 - Bees 0 5/19 It was another cold & windy May day in Harper Woods as the Bees took on the Grizzlies at Tyrone. The Bees started off the 1st inning stinging the Grizzlies
by loading the bases with sharp singles by by Coach Steve. The Grizzlies answered scoring 1 run & taking the lead. Jonathan Stalcup singled in the 2nd with Jahmeir Shorter hitting into a fielders choice sending Jonathan to 2nd & ultimately ending the Bees threat. The 3rd inning brought Anthony Monteleone to the mound in his PC debut at pitcher. Anthony punched out 3 batters, walked 3, gave up 2 hits & got us out of the inning with minimal damage & brought the score to 3 - 0. The Bees came to bat against the Grizzlies in the 3rd when Nathan Gunter got hit by a pitch & bravely shook it off & took his base. Anthony was up next & demonstrated a good eye & drew a walk. Jacob Foulkrod came up next & smashed a fastball right back to the pitcher which hit him in the leg, but ultimately stopped the ball which easily could have been in the outfield. Savannah Sams was next when she hit into a fielders choice in which Jacob was forced out at 3rd & ended another Bees scoring threat. The 4th inning brought Jacob Foulkrod to the mound for his second outing of the season. Jacob would not be denied as he faced 3 batters & threw GAS by all 3. Jacob finished with 3 strikeouts, no walks, hits or runs, credit to the Grizzlies who stood in & took some great swings. Devone Williams came to bat in the 4th getting hit by a pitch & valiantly taking 1st base, but the Bees could not put any more on base due to some good pitching by the Griz. The 5th inning brought some great defense by both teams & on the Bees side with a great stop by Devone Williams at SS in which he turned and fired to Anthony Monteloene at 2b for the out. The next play was a sharp hit to Anthony Monteleone which he smartly grabbed & steeped on second for the out. One more standout play ended the inning with Mickale McKithen snagging a line shot comebacker to him at the pitcher position. The Bees threatened 1 more time in the 6th with singles by Jacob Foulkrod & Savannah Sams but could not push any across to cut into the Grizzlies lead. Anthony Monteleone earned the Game Ball by making a great start at pitcher, 2 nice plays at 2B & 1 hit. Great job to both teams in a true defensive battle & pitchers duel.

Canadians 5 - Beavers 4 5/20 Mother Nature was kind tonight after a blustery weekend, and the Canadians and Beavers were grateful for the nice weather as they battled on Beacon #2. The Canadians loaded the bases in the first with hits from Jared Rees, Chris Walters and Luke Smith, but came up empty. The Beavers did not, as Sean Bly, Zack Berry, Stephen Bly, Kayle Kettler, Robbie Moen and Miguel Nina all got hits, with Robbie and Miguel earning the RBI to take a 2-0 lead. The Canadians were stymied again in the second, with Dean DeWaele getting the only hit of the inning. The Beavers continued their hot hitting, with Matt Orsi smacking a sharp double to right, followed by hits from Sean, Zack, Stephen and Myles, stretching the lead to 3-0. Kid pitch took over in the third, with Zach Berry taking the mound for the Beavers. AJ Saffore started the inning with his first career kid-pitch hit, and Michaela Kirck followed up with a single up the middle. Owen Rossman grounded out to first to move the runners over, and after walks to Jared and Chris, Olivia Randazzo singled, closing the gap to 3-2. Jared Rees took the mound in the bottom of the third, and walked one, striking out three. Sean Bly pitched the fourth for the Beavers and had excellent control, matching Jared's performance with a walk and two strikeouts of his own. The surprise of the game game in the bottom of the fourth as young Owen Rossman took the mound for the first time, and threw smoke, giving up a single and striking out three. Expect good things from Owen's pitching career! The Canadians mounted their comeback in the fifth, with AJ, Michaela and Owen loading the bases after the first out. Jared then singled to tie the game, and Chris Walters hit a sharp drive up the middle to score two more. That would be key, as the Beavers did not give up their half of the fifth. Myles McConnell led off with a single, and Robbie and Miguel followed, with Miguel knocking in Myles. The Beavers were then denied, and the game was called due to darkness after five innings, ensuring the Canadians a 5-4 win. Great game and great pitching by both teams!

Bees 4 -Beavers 3 5/21 Wednesday May 21 would prove to be another windy & cold night for baseball as the Bees faced the Beavers at Beacon #3. The Beavers started hot in the 1st scoring 3 runs on 5 singles & a double to take an early lead. The Bees got going in the 2nd with singles by Nathan Gunter, Anthony Monteleone, Cole Greene, & Jacob Foulkrod, but some good defense by the Beavers prevented any runs from scoring. Mickale McKithen got his second start at pitcher firing strikes & calmly struck out the side. Great pitching Mickale! The Bees came alive in the 4th inning against kid pitching with Jahmier Shorter, & Jonas Harness drawing base on balls. Nathan Gunter singled to load the bases with 1 out which brought Anthony Monteleone to the plate with a sharp RBI single & brought clean up hitter Jacob Foulkrod to the dish with 2 outs. Jacob smacked a kid pitch straight up the middle for a game tying 2 RBI double. Anthony Monteleone got his 2nd pitching start as well walking 2 & striking out 3 Beaver batters. Nice job Anthony! The top of the 5th inning brought some good Bees defense with strong first base play by Jacob Foulkrod, Mickale McKithen at pitcher & Anthony Monteleone at second base. Our heroes were not finished & as the home team took full advantage of last bats! It started with Miles Greene coming to the plate & blasting a 2 strike pitch through the infield for a nice single to start us off. Devone Williams was next with his own version of a 2 strike pitch single which put runners at 1st & 2nd. Mickale Mckithen was next with a short infield single which loaded the bases with 1 out & set the stage for Jahmeir Shorter. Jahmeir would not be denied & proved to be the hero of the game singling in Miles Greene from 3rd base to seal the victory for the BEES 4 - 3!!!!! Jahmeir earned the game ball with a key walk in the 4th & his game winning RBI. Awesome job Jahmeir!! Hats off to the Beavers for a hard fought well played game! The Bees are 4-4-1 going into the Memorial Day break & look forward to making some noise down the stretch & into the Pacific Coast playoffs. GO BEES GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canadians 6 - Thunder 0 5/21 Mother Nature was temperamental again, but the Canadians ignored her, and played another solid game on Beacon #2, which is becoming our favorite place to play. The Thunder swung first, with Zach leading off with a single, but sharp defense by the Canadians quieted any potential damage with two great plays in the field - first Jared Rees and Chris Walters made a nice force out a second, and then Jordan Buck made an excellent play in right, throwing out the runner at first to end the inning. The Canadians' bats then came out hitting in the bottom of the first, with Tarran Allen, Dean DeWaele, Jordan and Sam Campion all starting the game with singles. With one out, AJ Saffore played small-ball to perfection, grounding out but moving all runners up and getting the second run home. Michaela Kirck followed with a single to score Jordan and Jared singled to cap the inning off, giving the Canadians a 4-0 lead. Tight defense by both teams followed, with Chris Walters making a nice catch on a line drive from DJ Hollowell. Chris then took the mound in the third, striking out two and getting a ground out. John Hogrebe answered back for the Thunder in the bottom of the third, striking out three with a walk and two hits, only giving up one run. In the fourth, Kaeleb Donaldson took to the mound for the first time, struck out two and got some defensive help to shut down a potential Thunder rally - John, Elijah Stamatakis, DJ and Cameron Pope all had hits that inning. Cameron then took to the mound in the bottom of the fourth, and struck out the side. In the fifth, Tim Dombrowski and Zach both got hits, but were left stranded. The Canadians got an insurance run when with two outs, Sam, Aminah Whitfield, AJ and Michaela all got singles to extend the lead to 6-0, and that's how the game ended. Great hitting and defense by both teams - don't count out either team when the playoffs start!

Bees 7 - Thunder 2 5/28 It was a beautiful sun drenched evening at the corner of Beaconsfield & Woodland as the Bees took on the mighty Thunder at Beacon #2. The visiting Bees came to the plate first with one their minds, HITTING! Philip Walker started the stinging attack with a nice single. Nathan Gunter & Anthony Monteleone followed suit with their own base knocks which brought the smart hitting Cole Greene to the plate. Cole belted a single (RBI) which brought Philip home. Jacob Foulkrod came up next in the clean up spot & drove a pitch to the outfield (2B) which plated 2 more runs. The bottom of the 1st would provide some fine defense for the Bees as Devone Williams caught a sinking liner at the pitcher position & Mickale McKithen made key plays at 1B. Nice D guys! Lightning struck the Bees as the Thunder came to bat in the 2nd and belted out 4 singles & scored 1 run. Miles Greene made a smart play when he cleanly fielded a ground ball down the line & tagged 3b for the third out stopping the Thunder attack. Nice job Miles! The Bees continued their smart hitting in the top of the 3rd when facing Thunder pitching. Nathan Gunter, Anthony Monteleone & Cole Greene all demonstrated disciplined batsmanship drawing walks to load the bases once again for clean up hitter, Jacob Foulkrod. Jacob smashed a kid pitch to dead center field which gave him his first triple of the season & 3 RBI's. The good hitting continued when Devone Williams slugged out his second single (RBI) of the day to bring home Jacob from 3b and brought the score to 7 - 1. Jacob Foulkrod returned to the mound for his third outing of the season in the bottom of the 3rd & struck out 2 batters, hit one, & forced a 4th batter to ground out to first baseman Anthony Monteleone. The Thunder pitching made short work of the Bees in the 4th retiring the side. Mickale McKithen also appeared in his third game in the 4th & hit one & struck out 3 Thunder batters. Nice pitching Mickale! In the 5th it was back to Coach's Pitch when Nathan Gunter legged out an impressive infield single. Anthony Monteleone was up next and smacked a ground ball to the Thunder SS which made a nice play for the force out of Nathan at 2b. Jacob Foulkrod came to the plate next & hit an infield fly ball which hit the ground and gave him an infield single. Savannah rounded out the inning by getting on base with her first single of the game and loading the bases once again. There was no quit in Thunder as they put together a nice attack and scored 1 more run with 2 singles & a double in the bottom of the 5th. However, more good defensive play ended the game & sealed the victory for the Bees as first baseman Jacob Foulkrod fielded 2 ground balls & smartly stepped on 1b for the final 2 outs of the game. Devone Williams earned the Game Ball going 2 for 2, 1 RBI, & some nice defensive play. Honorable mention goes to Jacob Foulkrod: going 3 for 3, (one hit shy of the cycle) with 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple, 5 RBI's, & 1 scored run. Jacob also pitched a scoreless 3rd with 2 punchouts, and some fine defensive play at 1B, 2B & Catcher. Way to go Jacob!!! Nice effort by both teams! Next game Saturday May 31 vs. (comeback kids) Decoopman Sounds. Getcha popcorn ready, should be a good one!

Canadians 6 - Sounds 3 5/30 Very well played defensive game by both teams Friday night. The Canadians were stymied in the first, while the Sounds started strong, with lead-off hits from the Krueger brothers, Connor and Colin. Mary Elizabeth was safe on a fielder's choice, then Breyjuan singled in the first run of the game. Neither team scored in the second, but the Canadians did load the bases with hits from Sam Campion, Aminah Whitfield and AJ Saffore. The Sounds kept hitting as well, with Brendan and Malik both scoring solid singles. The kids took to the mound in the third, and the Canadians answered the bell, with hits from Chris Walters and Olivia Randazzo starting the inning off. Luke Smith earned a tough walk, as did Dean DeWaele, scoring the tying Canadians run. Sam Campion walked to give the Canadians the lead, and then Aminah got her second hit of the day. AJ walked to give the Canadians a commanding 4-1 lead. The Sounds bats responded in their half of the third, when Canadians pitcher Kaeleb Donaldson took the mound. Kaeleb struck out the first batter, walked the next two, and struck out the fourth. Then with two outs the rally began. Ryan Webb walked, and Brendan got his second hit, knocking in the second Sounds run. Alsce Johnson walked to close the gap to 4-3 before Kaeleb struck out the last batter to retain the Canadians lead. Breyjuan took to the mound in the fourth for the Sounds, giving up three walks and striking out three, only allowing hits to Chris and Olivia. The Canadians were able to put two more insurance runs across the plate to give them a 6-3 lead. Tarran Allen pitched the Canadians half of the fourth inning, walking the first batter and hitting the second, before settling down to strike out the next three batters and insure the win as time was called. Nice play by both teams, and great effort by the
pitchers!
