Week 7

Sounds 8 - Thunder 5

6/10

Beavers vs Rainiers

6/12

Grizzlies 1 - Canadians 1

6/12

What a defensive gem by both teams!  In a prelude to a potential playoff match-up, the Canadians and Grizzlies battled to a 1-1 tie.

The Grizzlies defense played strong in the first, giving up three two-out hits to Jared Rees, Chris Walters and Olivia Randazzo,

but also making three ground out plays at first to keep the Canadians scoreless.

Shane Jackson led off with a single for the Grizzlies, and Matthew Mazzola got a hit as well, but the Grizzlies were stymied as well.

In the second Kaeleb Donaldson and Dean DeWaele both singled, but excellent defense by the Grizzlies,

topped off by a line drive out, ended the Canadians second.  Anthony Stone got the lone single for the Grizzlies in the second.

In the third, kid pitch took over, with Michaela Kirck and Owen Rossman both getting singles.

Chris Walters earned a two-out walk, but that was all the Canadians could muster against the strong Grizzlies' pitchers.

In the bottom of the third, Chris Walters took to the mound for the Canadians, and gave up one hit to Lynlee Duquet,

striking out three.  In the fourth, Luke Smith led off with a single.  Chris Walters then doubled, but Luke was thrown out at third.

Two strike outs later and the Canadians' rally was put down.  In the Grizzlies' half of the fourth, Olivia Randazzo took to the

mound for the first time, and pitched like a champ, striking out two, walking two and only giving up two hits and one run,

to Matthew Mazzola and Caleb Jackson.  Kaeleb Donaldson came in to get the third out, striking out one.

In the fifth, the Canadians answered back.  Jordan Buck led off with a sharp single to center.

After one out, AJ Saffore and Michaela Kirck got singles of their own.  Clutch-hitting Owen Rossman then put the ball in play to

get a force out, but got the tying run home.  Things happen when you put the ball in play!

The next two innings, including the extra 7th, were played excellently by both teams' defense.

When these two teams meet in the playoffs, you had better come and watch because you will not see any better baseball played!

Grizzlies 3 - Bees 0

6/14

Saturday June 14th was a hot & sticky day for baseball in Harper Woods as the Bees battled

the 1st place Grizzlies at SR#2.  Both teams battled hard & could not score against each other until the late innings in

this classic pitchers duel.  The Bees pitching remained solid as Mickale McKithen took the mound for his last start of the

regular season.  Mickale pitched a solid 3rd inning walking 3 & striking out 3,  getting himself out of a bases loaded jam.

Jacob Foulkrod also made his last regular season start in the 4th striking out all 3 batters he faced.

Nice pitching Mickale & Jacob!  The Bees could only manage to scatter 6 hits over 6 innings & would definately not

be enough to over take the # 1 team in the Pacific Coast league.

The Grizzlies scored 3 runs over the 5th & 6th innings & ended their season with a much deserved win.

Coach Eric McKithen got the Game Ball for his hard work & dedication over the coarse of the season.

Nice job Coach Eric!  One more regular season game vs. The Sounds on Tuesday.  GO BEES GO!!

Canadians 8 - Beavers 0

6/14

Nice effort by both teams - the game was closer than the score indicates.

The Canadians defense shut down the Beavers' bats, only allowing hits to Stephen Bly and Robbie Moen.

The Canadians were led by fine pitching from both Kaeleb Donaldson and first time pitcher Jordan Buck.

Both pitched very well, each striking out three.  The Canadians' bats got things started with hits

from AJ Saffore, consistent Michaela Kirckk, and Owen Rossman.

Chris Walters knocked in the first run with a force out, and Luke Smith knocked in the second

with a sharp single.  In the Canadians' second inning, Tarran Allen and Dean DeWaele led off with singles,

With one out, Sam Campion singled to load the bases., and Michaela Kirck followed up with a single of her

own to get the third run home.  In the third, Chris and Tarran got kid-pitch hits, as did Kaeleb Donaldon.

Nice season by both teams - see you in the playoffs!
